Living Stone

Jesus taught many things that were difficult for people to accept.  In fact they weree impossible to believe. That is why Jesus said that no one would come to believe in Him unless the Father drew them to Him. Then He quoted from Isaiah 54:13, when He said,"And they shall all be taught of God".  Isaiah was one of His favorite texts to preach from because it spoke so much about Him and about His work on earth.  Imagine the special honor these people had, to actually be taught about God, by God the Son Himself! If only they would have known it at the time. He told them many times, in this text and in many others, but they were blinded to the truth by sin.

In the same way, we allow ourselves to be blinded to the truth of God's Word by the sin that we hold on to. Through the Bible we are taught by God Himself in ways that most people in history never had the opportunity. The Holy Spirit Himself dwells within us and teaches us about the truths of God when we meditate on the scriptures. Yet we often live as though we had no knowledge of the ways of God. When we do this, we are no better than the Jews who asked Jesus to show them a sign, the day after He had fed the thousands.  Let us resolve to honor Him by our obedience to the word which He has given us.
