The History of Living Stone Baptist Church PDF Print E-mail

In 2002, the leadership and members of First Baptist Church of Perkasie began praying about the possibility of beginning a new church plant.  Prayer was offered for wisdom and direction from the Lord as to whether a new work should be started, when and where it would be planted and who should shepherd the work.  After a short time, it became evident that God was leading the church to plant a work in the Quakertown area.

In August of 2002, a small group of FBC members began meeting to worship the Lord, and to pray, as they began making preparations for the ministries which would be involved.  In January of 2003, this group began to meet weekly for worship and was commissioned by the congregation of FBC to begin planting a church in the Quakertown area.

At this same time, Tim Vander Stel, Pastor of Family Ministries at FBC, was called as the first pastor of the new work.  Deacons and trustees were then elected from the original membership.  The church was given the name Living Stone Baptist Church.

As the group began to function together as a church, various sites were evaluated for rental. On Easter Sunday, 2003, Living Stone Baptist Church met for the first time at it's new location, 143 Rocky Ridge Road, Quakertown.  We are enjoying a wonderful working relationship with the staff of the Quakertown Christian School Pre-School, where we rent facilities.

We have now been meeting and functioning as a church in the Quakertown area for just over six years, and are excited about what the Lord has for us.  We desire to grow in Him and to give Him glory as we reach out to the people around us with the good news of the grace of Jesus Christ.  His love is amazing and His strength is perfect.
